Colors to use in landscape painting.
One of the main objectives in painting figures is to create in the viewer the desire to be in the scene so that it is no longer just a mountain or a stream. The figures should be hermit like, not city dwellers, to help to evoke a mood.
When painting figures you have a marvelous chance to employ variety in your line work. Notice how many strokes trail off in an almost imperceptible line. The folds of the garments almost seem to dance about. Smaller figures may be painted without either eyes or ears but appear to look and listen! Eliminate details to achieve the simplest expression and you will have a more natural effect.
