Description
Three fun and interesting subjects! You’ll learn to paint all three plus get some master painters examples for settings.
There were very few artists in China who painted shrimp. Qi Baishi changed all of that with just a few simple brushstrokes that brought the shrimp to life on paper. His secret? ‘The intrigue of wonder lies in its being halfway between like and unlike.’
Seen on one of Baishi’s painting of a crab: ‘See how much longer you are able to walk sideways.’
This was said mockingly of politicians. Not a handsome fellow, the crab is an interesting subject and another favorite of Qi Baishi.
The Lobster – Think of this fellow as one big shrimp! The head is painted in the same manner; using four strokes only, you will be using more of the side of the brush.
